I like to fish, which I haven't done very much of lately. I like to hunt- deer hunting.
Tell a funny story about someone in the family.
Dan put some maxi pads on his feet when he was little. He was very quiet, and Mom went to see what he was a up to. He said "neat space shoes Mommy!"
What is your favorite family tradition?
Family reunions
If you have a significant other, how did you meet?
I got stood up- my date got engaged to someone else! Mom filled in, and she was only a week from being 16 years old. Her mom let her go even though she wasn't quite sixteen. We went to a stake dance. We were with Connie and Launey, who were also on a date. They left us in the car when they went to say goodbye that night, and took a long time. While they were away, we were playing with Mom's green necklace that was bought to go with her dress. I kissed Mom, and she said "What did you do that for?" I told her I just wanted to know what it was like.
When you were a kid, what got you into trouble?
I never got into trouble very much. I was a teacher's pet. I can't remember if I ever got in trouble.
Who is the best friend you have ever had?
Robert Garner (Mom's cousin). Mom says he chased the girls with him at stake dances. Mom saw Dad when they were kids when he was a with him.
What was your first job?
I worked a lot on the farm, for nothing! I drove the trucks with my dad. I also drove a dump truck for a paving company.
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
I have never done anything crazy.
What was the worst job you ever had?
Shoveled manure. It's a dirty job.
Who has had the biggest influence on your life?

Tell us something about you- a hobby, talent, interest, or something you love to do.
I love to draw, paint, and do art. Mom would have us guess drawings in church to keep us entertained. I got published in the children's friend. When I was 14, the only birthday party I ever had my mom bought me watercolors. I took some classes at BYU in art. Then I went to a store where they had paint and I bought a little tiny set of paint for about $5 for some little tubes- they were very expensive at the time! When we moved to St. Louis I took classes from Trina's mom, Peggy Carnes. I asked Ruby next door to watch the kids while I went to classes once a week, and I wallpapered her kitchen for her in exchange. Did on my own until I found a teacher when we moved out to Utah. I wanted tot do portraits and that's what my teacher was really good at. When Dad had a heart attack I quit going. Plus the prices doubled from $15 to $30 a lesson. And the rest I just did, and and am still doing.
Tell a funny story about someone in the family.
The one that I can think of is one I've already talked about. It was a the night we were supposed to be watching someone across the street's house. Then in the middle of the night I saw someone's car over there with doors wide open, and called the cops. Then Heidi came thought the back door- it was her friends that had come. I asked Heidi if she wanted to tell the cops why they were there?
What is your favorite family tradition?
Oyster stew on Christmas- because my mom and dad always had oyster stew. When dad was on his mission in Denmark, that was the tradition there. We only had it for Christmas because it was so expensive.
If you have a significant other, how did you meet?
Dad kissed me on the first date. We went to a dance, and Connie and Launey were dating. It was a long time when they were saying their goodbyes, so Dad kissed me. He said "I just wanted to see what it was like. Do you think they will tell on us?" Dad and I were playing with my green necklace that went with my dress that my mom made. Dad took it home and it took a few weeks before I got it back. The dress was made just for the dance- a stake dance.
When you were a kid, what got you into trouble?
Lots of things. Mom was one where either you did it or else. Lots of discipline. Sometimes my sister would lie, so I would get in trouble. We had to cut our own green willow to get our spanking, or we'd get the razor strap. 1st grade. We never had gum, but I always wanted gum. We had to make our own gum by chewing wheat and making gluten. One day on the bus I ran my had under the seat and and pulled up the gum and chewed it. When I got home my mom asked me where I got it, and I said I stole it out of jimmy's lunch box. Mom called the principle's office and the principal came and asked her where I got it. I said she stole it out of Jimmy's lunchbox. Then the principal called Jimmy in and Jimmy said there was nothing missing out of his lunchbox. Them I had to confess that I made the whole thing up.
One time my mom brought home postum and I thought it was chocolate, and said I wanted some. My mom gave it to me and made me sit there until I drank the whole thing. It was disgusting, and I never wanted to drink postum again.
I had to eat everything on my plate or I couldn't go out and play.
Who is the best friend you have ever had?
My cousin, she passed away about a month and a half ago. She was born with a cleft pallet, but I never saw her that way. She was my best friend. When we moved to Burley- about 4-5 grade, I really got to know her. We were together all the time. I went with her to her doctor's appointments and therapy and other things.
What was your first job?
I worked at the Burger Port in Burley as a car hop. There was a girl that was a supposed to be training me, but the first day that a she wouldn't let me do it, and went to get all the cars herself The boss called me in because she went to tell him I wasn't doing anything. I told him exactly what she did and the boss didn't say anything anymore.
My favorite job was decorating cakes at DQ. I went in at 5am when no one was a there and came back early enough to get home before the kids went to school. That was a a fun job.
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
I just remember one thing that I did that a I really wasn't supposed to do. I was visiting a friend, in Tremont- or close to there. I came with a friend of mine. We got some chalk and put round Os on the garage of someone. We were about 14 years old.
What was the worst job you ever had?
Wiping snotty noses. Diapers are OK, but snotty noses are awful. When I was working at the hospital back when they didn't have liners for the trash cans, I would have to clean out the snot and it made me puke.
I worked all over at the hospital- geriatric, x-ray development room, nursery.
The last nursing home I worked at was bad. It would take me 2 hours to do rounds, and I would come back and everyone would ask where I had been and would only do their work at the last minute on their shifts.
Who has had the biggest influence on your life?
My parents. They taught me what I was supposed to do and what not to do.
